Fil’è Ferru satin-finish decorated 50 cl Bresca Dorada

A traditional Sardinian spirit obtained from the distillation of selected Sardinian grape pomace. Crystalline and transparent in color, it presents intense and clean aromas with delicate floral notes, hints of pomace, and Mediterranean scents; on the palate, it is dry, bold, and warm, with a harmonious taste and a persistent aromatic finish. Alcohol content: 40% vol. Suggested pairings: Ideal as a digestif at the end of a meal, served neat. Excellent with traditional Sardinian sweets, such as seadas, amaretti, and almond pastries. Intriguing when paired with dark chocolate and aged cheeses. Also suitable for preparing cocktails with a bold character. Recommended serving temperature: 12–16 °C, or slightly chilled according to preference. Why it is called Fil’e Ferru (Filu ’e Ferru) The name Fil’e Ferru, meaning “iron wire” in Sardinian, stems from an ancient custom linked to the clandestine production of brandy in Sardinia. In the past, when home distillation was prohibited or strictly controlled, farmers would hide stills and bottles of spirits underground to avoid discovery. To relocate the hiding spot, they would leave a piece of iron wire protruding from the ground, connected to the container: hence the name “Fil’e Ferru.” This spirit, also known as Sardinian acquavite or abbardente (“burning water” due to its alcoholic strength), has become over time a symbol of Sardinian tradition and hospitality. Today, it is legally produced in distilleries.
