Serpentara Island

Off the coast of Villasimius, in southeastern Sardinia, Serpentara is a tongue of granite rising from the sea like the back of a sleeping dragon. A nature reserve and habitat for ospreys and Corsican gulls, it takes its name from the twisted junipers that the winds have bent until they resemble serpents.
